i know next to nothing on pc parts and if they're compatible or what they do, so when it came to the time to get a gaming pc i just got an alienware thinking this'l do, it didn't. so 'm building a new pc reusing some parts from my alienware x51.

the parts i'm reusing:

GTX 660 (VERY temporary changing to the ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix DirectCU II 4GB)

Intel Core i7 4770 (no K)

RAM 8 gigs.

Nothing else.

so i'm not sure what to buy but i need a new:

Case- Phanteks Ethoo Pro (black)

PSU- Seasonic X-850

cpu cooling- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM

Wireless Adapter- TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N PCIe Adaptor

MotherBoard- ASUS Maximus VII Hero

SSD- Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD

let me know if there are any parts you think could do better than the ones i've chosen (for a similar price), if there is anything i should change please tell me.

Total- $785

No, it won't

if you want a good 200 ish mobo this is good ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97b

But you don't actually need a 200$ mobo this 120$ one -GIGABYTE GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5- can do the job

CPU:AMD FX-8320, RAM:Kingston Fury Black Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600, GPU:MSI Radeon R9 280, Case:Cooler Master 690 III, PSU:Thermaltake Smart 650W

Storage:WD Purple 1TB, CPU Cooler:Hyper 212 EVO, Keyboard:SCI Granite, OS:win 8.1 64bit, Display:Samsung SyncMaster SA100, Mouse:CM Storm Spawn

Intel Core i7 4770 (no K)

the 8 gigs of RAM

the hard drive

Nothing else.

so i'm not sure what to buy but i need a new:

Case (not sure but i like the: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_547&products_id=20347)

PSU (already decided on one: Corsair RM-650 80 Plus Gold Power Supply)

Cooling-

MotherBoard-

SSD- Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB SSD (if price permits but it probably will)

if I'm missing anything please let me know, if something isn't compatible please tell me, it would be very helpful if anyone could suggest good parts for those i am missing, i am working with a budget of $600 but i can afford to go to $1000.

Current total of parts so far.

Total-$300

Total with SSD- $390

That Corsair PSU is bad value for money. You can get the far superior EVGA G2 750W for less.

Question:

whats an optical drive/which one should i get.

whats a good sound card i should get.

whats the difference between wireless and wired network adapters.

1. you don't need an optical drive but you could get anything they are cheap such as this Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS

2. if you really want one this will do Asus Xonar DGX

3. pretty obvious wireless = you don't need a cable to connect to a network

wired = you need a cable

and here is a list of near silent parts for the PC

I already listed a better psu above. The EVGA has hybrid fan mode.

The Asus Hero board is expensive. I would suggest the Gigabyte Z97 Sniper (If it is cheaper) as it has amazing on board audio.

i'm not connected to my modem do i need a wireless network adapter?

thanks for the help.

i'm not that interested in silence, i would prefer it but i don't really mind since i don't OC anything, and i do have the Astro A50s which block out a fair bit of noise.

the super nova G2 is great this build was just an example

and as I said this is an example he could change it for another board there are many great boards cheaper than this but I believe that they don't have this mobo in Australia

i can't find the gigabyte z97 sniper i can see allot of gigabyte z97s though, but whats the difference is capabilities/how well does it work?

also do i need a wireless adapter?

will this be able to handle 4k monitors? cause atm im using a VERY cheap monitor and would like to upgrade it.

It is possible that they don't sell that particular board. You could ask your retailer for more info. Most Motherboards have good onboard audio, so a separate soundcard isn't really necessary.

You would need a wireless adapter if you can't run a cable directly to your router.

To get decent framerates on a 4K monitor you would need a dual card setup i.e 2 x GTX 970 or 2 x GTX 980
