Whoa now.

My iPad 2 is still very responsive, and contrary to the beliefs of 99% of this forum, I can recommend Apple products for reasons other than 'it's Apple.' The iPad 3 is known to be a bit of a wash when it comes to performance, as it was the first retina display iPad, and didn't really have the graphical power to keep up since then. The 2 is older, yes, but the resolution is dramatically lower than the 3, and newer iPad 2s have a die-shrunk version of the A5 chip, so it's cooler and therefore runs faster at the same temps as previously.

It does truly run well on iOS 8, and it can run nearly any game out there. Of course (as stated) it's no Air 2, but just because you have a bad experience doesn't invalidate my reasoning for recommending a perfectly solid tablet that just went out of production in October over one that has heinous incompatibility with software and an OS that was essentially dumped off by its developer due to everyone hating it with a passion.

Good day.

EDIT - I see you're a grammar nazi as well, eh?

nah i used my moms ipad 2 and it ran crap, with ios 8, im sorry but it is really old and not recomemded

You also have to remember that she probably upgraded to iOS 8 OTA, and has years worth of crap on the thing. I got mine new and reset it every time there's a new iOS upgrade, as a full restore through iTunes is worlds better than just resetting the device.

It's not perfect, but I've never had problems of crashing or 'gestures taking four seconds to load'

Treat older hardware the right way, and it won't give you problems!

Sorry if that post came off hateful (assuming that wasn't sarcasm, which it probably was); my writing course this year is on how to convey your point while pretty much bashing the opposing points (I.e. Debate). It may be rubbing off on my writing in other areas, which I assume was the point. :P

I won't attempt to counter every one of your points, but one thing is: many tablets, such as the 2013 Nexus 7, Asus MeMOPad ME576C and various full Windows tablets at $170-$250 will offer better value than the iPad 2, at least IMO.

Yes I am a grammar Nazi. Sadly, no one else I know offline shares my disgust at the second definition of "literally" according to a Google search for "literally definition" or the abolishment of the necessity of the Oxford comma. Also, my keyboard of choice is Swype, which is usually inaccurate, so that's more often than not the root of my grammatical errors.
