Since I'm thinking on building a computer, the CPU I chose was the Intel Core i7-4790K and online it said that it takes DDR3 RAM. The motherboard I was thinking of going with is the Asus Maximus VI Formula or the Maximus VI Extreme. The VI Extreme has DDR4 RAM slots and I am not sure which to choose. I'm also not much of a expert in building as this will possibly be my first build.

DDR4 Is only on X99... Either go with a 5820K, or with the Formula...

Also may I recommend Pcpartpicker.com. It checks incompatibilities automatically.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.
