So exactly one year ago (Christmas period of 2013) I went out and bought a tablet whilst I was on holiday in Florida. I spent $100 on this tablet called a Zeki but when I got it turned on it worked brilliantly. However when I got it home I started to use it less and less because I was playing games on my laptop etc.

Eventually after around about 3-4 months of it not being turned on I went and plugged it in to charge it up only to find out the battery had gone bad and wouldn't charge very much and the tablet would be stuck on the screen saying "Android" so I thought to myself, why not crack this baby open once the charge runs out?

So after removing the back panel I was exposed to this:

Afterwards I went on to (very stupidly) remove the battery from the back of the screen, and being as it was glued there I used a very small flat head screwdriver to separate it. Once I removed the battery I went on to exclaim "Oh s**t" as I had punctured the Lithium battery. Afterwards I quickly threw it in a bin bag and then threw that in the black bin outside. At the moment I am just waiting to see whether it will catch fire or explode xD. But hopefully being as it did not have any charge it shouldn't be too catastrophic.

As for the tablet I can only think to use the touchscreen and make it for use with the Raspberry Pi.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Cheers

Managed to unscrew the motherboard from the rest of it all. Now I just have a screen, two brown cable sorta things which I detached from it, and the black plate which the screen is clipped into.

Any ideas what do to from here? I can get some numbers from the brown cable sorta things to see if they are of any use.

Cheers

It takes a lot of knowledge to make that screen work on a Pi why not get a new battery.

Because I have taken the tablet apart already xD I might use it for something else then. It'll come in handy when I have a school project or something. After all, I am on a BTEC Engineering Course taking up one of my GCSE's :)

Check if the board still works... Hook it up to your charger and fire it up...

If not, scrap it and get a touch screen controller board for the pi...
