Graphics Card Suggestions?

Hello everyone, 

 

I'm currently in the process of building a gaming/workstation computer and was hoping on some help on my graphics card selection. Here are the current components: 

 

Case: Corsair Graphite Series 780T 
Motherboard: Asus P9X79 WS
Processor: Intel i7-3930K 

Heat Sink: Corsair Hydro Series H100i (Replacing stock fans with 2 x Corsair Air Series SP120) 
Hard Drive: Samsung 850 Pro SSD

RAM: Haven't decided yet 
Power Supply: Fractal Design Tesla R2 

 

My budget for the graphics card is roughly around $800 CAD. I want to try and go for the quietest possible build but still do some serious gaming/editing. That said, it won't be a deal breaker if I hear a little bit of the fans, I just want the computer to be as silent as possible. I'll be playing games such as Shadow of Mordor, Crysis, Far Cry etc. I won't be doing any intense editing work, at most just Photoshop and/or Sony Vegas work. 

 

Any suggestions on a graphics card would be nice, my friends are suggesting the 780T, but do I get the reference card or non?

A single 980

It looks like dual 970's are getting more votes. If this was the case, which 970 card do you guys recommend? Asus, EVGA, etc

The STRIX series is what I use. They are very quiet, and the fans don't even turn on until ~50C. If noise doesn't matter to you, then the windforce version from gigabyte is great.

PS- some 970s have coil wine. Mine don't, but some do.
