Hello everyone. I saw linus' video about hackintoshes and I thought to give it a go. Now since I have an amd cpu I cant really just buy a legal snow leopard and boot it with the 'forgot-the-name' program then buy lion and get mavericks.

Now my question is, how safe and how legal it is to get Niresh's distro of os x? I know that it is against the eula to put apple software on non apple hardware and I also know that they tend to look the other way if u actually buy the software and then make a hackintosh aka they wont do anything.

So niresh or try to track down a pc with an intel cpu. Put my hdd inside upgrade to mavericks. Put amd kexts and then put the hdd back into my case.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Technically, any distro of OSX, including Niresh's, is piracy and therefore illegal. Even if Mavericks is free, it still is distributing Apple software outside of official Apple hardware. The hardware is how Apple makes money and is why Macs are so overpriced.

A distro is technically piracy but as both Maverick's and Yosemite are free to download... I guess you could get away with it on this forum
