Hello gents.

As I'm having some "issues" with my h105 (being too loud) how can I change it down at RPM's?

I have a z97 maximus vii formula motherboard and a h105 connected to a Chassi Fan 2A. But I can't adjust it. It's ATM at 1870 RPM and I wonder if I take this number down, will the mechanical pump sound be less noticeable?

Also how do I turn it down? I've tried AI Suite 3 but I can't seem to get an option on it.

Thank you.

you can use the ASUS AISuit's Fan Xpert to control the fan so they only spin up to high speeds when needed.
i use it have have my fans running at around 900rpm. they only spin to full speed (2350rpm) when needed.

oh i also think you can speed custom fan curve/settings in the UEFI off your Z97 motherboard to.

All my other fans are at 900 RPM and no problems at all. The only thing that's a problem is my h105 which makes an annoying pump noice which I don't like, haha.

So I'm trying to figure out how to set that to lower RPM

what is making the noise? the pump or the fans??

EDIT:

Just saw the post before ;)

Its probably a defective unit then, I had the same problem with my H100 back in the days. You probably need to rma it, unless you can regulate it down in some way.

Do you think so? It's not a high noice at all. I have a completely silent rig, and the only thing I can hear is the pump from my h105. It's not that annoying while gaming, but you can gear it when it's rather silence. The temps are perfectly fine too.

Im a H105 user, and an Asus z97 user. In my experience my pump is noticeable if im trying to hear it, but not otherwise.

My pump rpm sits less than 1000 though.

if the pump is making all the noise then it might be faulty.

How did you get your pump to 1000 rpm? I'm at 1850 and I've seen that's the default too. And I can hear it no matter what when it's silent in my room.

Once I've figured out how to lower the RPM and see if it's still noicy, I'll try to return it if it doesnt help

changed CPU fan curve in BIOS.

I had a similar issue when I first got my H105, and after digging a fair bit it became clear that you are not meant to reduce the voltage to the pump unit itself (believe it needs 12V). They are designed to run at full speed and reducing it can result in damage to the pump...not to mention it starts to produce the most annoying ticking sound ever! My noise cleared up after a couple of weeks and now is pretty much silent, but if it continues in your case I would just return it. Tampering with the voltages will likely void the warranty. Just my two cent from previous experience :)

I've had it since start of october, so I don't really know what's going on

I've also heard that it would help if I'm shaking it? As it could be air bubbles, but I'm not so sure about that tho.

I'll take contact in a few days with the store I've purchaced it from, to see what we'll do about it. Thanks :)

I have all my chassis fans plus the fans attached to the h105 in a fancontroller. And the H105 for itself. Does it matter if it's plugged in chassis fan A1 or does it have to be plugged in CPU fan?

the cpu fan offers the best compatibility as its design is part of the intel chipset spec. try it, its much more likely to function compared to all the other fan headers.

I've tried both right now. I have a phantek enthoo pro which I'm using it's fan hub for all my chase fans (5 different) and it works flawlessy. But it's my CPU Pump that doesn't want to compromise. I've tried 1A, 2A, cpu opt and CPU fan, none worked.

Is it a "tinkling" sound, like tiny stones moving through the pipes? If so, that would be air bubbles and shaking does help. If you are able to lift the case, just turn it upside down and side to side- you can usually hear the bubbles move along. Just check to make sure that it is fitted correctly to the motherboard. Could be vibrations caused by a shaky connection. Just as an FYI, I have my pump plugged into a 12v fan splitter (so it always gets the 12v it needs) and the fans into the CPU header. Again, slowing the pump down is likely to break the unit. I wouldn't recommend.
