Fans get louder?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

You should clean your fans and find out which parts are making the most noise.

Near silent?--sort of. NF-F12's are louder and have a worse sound signature than P12's which is why I don't use any NF-F12's.

Low noise adapters aren't needed if your motherboard can already lower the fan speeds enough.

Hey guys. So a while back I grabbed a few Noctuas for my H80i. I remember them practically rendering my rig silent. I was screwing about today with installing my new 500gb SSD and cable management mess, and after really paying attention to it, it really seems louder then I recall.

I plan to get the Define R5 whenever my shop gets them in stock, and switch over to that. But in the mean time would giving the fans/rad a good clean improve sound any (I don't imagine it would...), or am I just off?

Thanks for any help.

Also, if I were to get my rig into a Define R5 w/ nothing but pure Noctua NF-F12s, and NF-P12s, my rig should be damn near silent, no?

P.S. Should I be using low noise adapters that come with my Noctuas (for intake/general case fans, and/or for my 2 NF-F12s on my H80i)?

Thanks. I'm going to see if my shop can get me a rough time when they'll get R5s. If not, I might just grab one from Newegg, and when I put everything in I'll give it a good clean and see how it all goes.

I also have a shitty stock Zalman fan in the top, and two stupid 80mms in the side, which probably are helping contribute to the noise.

Remove the loud fans then?

Remove the loud fans then?

That was originally the plan, but the top cover to my case it wired together and cant come cobuilt ly apart, so i cant get a screwdriver in there to remove the top 120mm fan, and the 2 80mm are built into each side panel, so i would have to cut apart each side panel and rip them out.

Yea, the case is as bad as it sounds.

If you want silence get 140mm case fans.

And why is that?
