Hi guys, I recently built a pc and am about to install windows 7 ultimate on my 512G Samsung 850 pro SSD. My question is whether I should create a separate boot system partition to install windows or just use the entire SSD as the system drive (I have a separate wd harddrive for storage). What are the benefits for creating a separate partition and what's the recommended size if I need one?

Thanks in advance for the help

There is no reason to use a separate partition. Just use the whole thing. Windows will automatically create any necessary partitions (system volume, etc) during the install process.

Creating a separate partition is not really necessary but could come in handy in case you want to format the other partition and not having to reinstall windows again.

I am using this setup and I allocated 50GB for the OS partition. Windows itself uses around 20-25GB and the rest is for system restore points and paging file.

You can just install the Whole OS on to the single partition.

No problem will occur.
