Hey guys,

So my R9 290 has been acting rather... Odd. Recently, I have found that it stutters a lot in many games and reaches concerning temperatures. Now it seems that my GPU hits 100% load at random in games - My GPU-Z Sensor logs indicate that my GPU often goes from 100% to 80% to 60% to 20% to even 0% at times. These tend to fluctuate. I tested for ten minutes at a time on Far Cry 4 Map Editor (Made a Mountain Assault map with hundreds of enemies and explosives), Just Cause 2 and Saints Row: The Third (All of these run at ultra).

I also overclocked it slightly recently and since then, Advanced Warfare does NOT launch.

Oh, and VRM temps hit the 60 - 80 degrees celcius mark like the rest of the GPU.

Pretty good actually. Only a couple of fans in the case though.

Do you have intake and exhaust? What CPU cooler do you have? What temp does your CPU hit? Do you have another video card to try out?

I use the Gigabyte Windforce 3x cooler and I believe I have exhaust. My CPU cooler is stock but it never goes above 45 degrees. I do have another GPU to try out but I can't access that until tomorrow.

UPDATE: System became unresponsive while watching a YouTube video. Just rebooted and my logs indicate that at several instances it had reached 100% load despite there being no games in background or benchmarks.

Change to an older gpu driver

Do you know where I can get the last set of drivers from? What do you want me to do when I get them?

Sorry, I don´t know from where you can get them.

Maybe the manufacturers website or even your original gpu driver cd?

-Install them and test

YouTube /flashplayer is using gpu acceleration.

YouTube /flashplayer is using gpu acceleration.

It may use hardware acceleration, but that's no reason for it to be running at 100%.

You failed to answer my questions. Although, now I only want to know if you have another video card to test with.

For one moment, for one stressfull moment. Yes it is.

Same for taskmanager when starting, the cores peaking 100% then turning to normal.

I don't agree with you here. It's unreasonable to believe that a 290 will be fully taxed by Flash, even for a split second, unless it was pushing as many frames as possible. Otherwise, it's just ludicrous.

I apologise for failing to answer. I do have another video card to test with although I can't test with it until tomorrow.
