OP please do NOT download this software. iobit are very widely known for infecting people with malware and are just a fishy company in general. Diver update programs can seriously mess up your PC to the point of operating system corruption so bad you are forced to wipe and reinstall.

It is really best and safest to install drivers manually or by ONLY using software provided directly from the manufacturer.

May have already used the program.. But on the plus side I have malwarebytes and avast on so should be fine...

out of all the stuff that was suggested, what did you actually do?

Have tried everything expect the slimdrivers (since it wouldn't install) and reformatting my harddrive since I have done that 5ish times before to try to fix this issue and it never actually helping. Nothing suggested has fixed the issue sadly.

Well but here's the problem with viruses. Anti-virus software trusts YOU the user more than itself. So if you install a piece of software and it has viruses bundled in and you blaze through the installer saying yes and next on every screen and inadvertently allow the virus to install, your AV is going to think "well, my user trusts it, so I guess I do too". Anti-virus softwares do not remove malware and viruses already existent on the system. They are designed to be a net to catch things BEFORE they get through.

Hi, I have had a problem for a long time now. I would say maybe 6'ish months? The problem is when ever I watch something through websites like youtube, crunchyroll, twitch, etc my computer will sometimes freeze. It wont unfreeze and I have to end up force restarting every time. I have been told its different parts of my PC and always replacing parts and trying workarounds they never worked.

So that left me with just my CPU, which currently I cant replace right away so if theirs a way to fix it without having to buy a new one that would be great. Also as a note when I disabled all ways of overclocking (BIOS had things on its own automatically overclocking) it fixed the problem but recently BIOS updated and turned everything on to max and actually made the issue worse because now even with the overclocking off it freezes still.. (Hope this post isn't too long :P )

Specs/Info:

OS: Windows 8.1 64bit

OS version: 6.3, build 9600

BIOS: 04.06.05

CPU: AMD 8120FX 3.1GHZ

CPU heatsink/fan: thermaltake CLP0554

Memory: Corsair XMS 16gb 2x8

Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti 2gb

Card Driver: 9.18.13.4709

DirectX version: 11

PSU: Evga supernova 1000w Plat 80+

its your Flash player mate or a script what joins the browser and flash player for working together. its your OS not hardware. reinstall your OS if you can of reinstall browser and flashplayer.

CPU: i7 4790K | Ram:Corsair Vengeance 8GB | GPU: Asus R9 270 | Cooling :Corsair H100i | Storage : Intel SSD, Seagate HDDs | PSU : Corsair VS 550 | Case: CM HAF Advanced.

nice find Andrei777, not something I would have thought of anymore. Let's hope it works.

Hey thanks! Yeah since he mentioned he has an FX cpu, he might as well install the hotfix. I learned about it from one of Logan's videos from Tek S. I hope it works too.

Oh that sucks. Have you reinstalled your OS before and did it do the freezing problem again right away or after you started installing programs?

do an error check on your harddrive....... with repair.

and edit: while I'm thinking of it............ try and install it in safe mode without networking. and run some security scans in safe mode.

Done many harddrive checks, with nothing coming up. I can do another just for the fun of it.

It has froze during reinstalls before, and it has froze right away. It even freezes when idling with no browser open or applications on. But it mostly happens while watching videos and sometimes while gaming.

Have you tried Windows 7 on your system? If so has it done the same thing? When I upgraded my dad's pc to windows 8, it did the same exact thing like yours and you won't believe the problem, HIS USB WIFI ADAPTER! Windows 8 just didn't like it. And on 7 it worked perfect. Any new gear, hardware, or USB devices you got in the past 6 months since this issue started? It could be something really small that can cause this issue. I don't personally think it's your cpu. I had a wireless mouse once make my pc freeze and it had the small USB dongle. Now the mouse is completely broken, it just failed one day so I stopped using it. Try unpluggin everything except your power, monitor, and mouse. If you have a password, just use the on screen keyboard and click with the mouse onec you log ic. If it still does the freeze, try another mouse. I know it sounds silly but trust me, I had simple devices make the whole system crash constantly. Hope this helps!

Hmm I had the freezing problem when I was using a wireless adapter the netgear a6200.. I recently upgraded to a asus ea-n66 but I uninstalled the drivers for the wifi adapter.. and I have a razer mamba that can be put into wireless but I have had the mouse since I have had my old pc before the freezing problem occurred. As for windows 7 I have never tried it with this PC simply used windows 8/8.1. I'll give the mouse only thing a shot.

I left my pc over the night with nothing but my mouse, and monitor plugged in and left a game and video running in the background and after 9ish hours it didn't freeze. Could just be my PC being nice but I ONLY plugged in my eithernet cable back in and about a hour later it froze again.

Well I have reinstalled flash player many times and have kept it up to date, also like I have mentioned before in previous posts I have reinstalled my OS and reformated my HDD many times to fix this issue with no fixing it. I have also reinstalled google chrome a few times to update it and such with nothing working. Issue happens sometimes when google chrome isnt even on at all.

Then i think its some sector or your RAM . if you can try with removing one ram and run the other and run put one at a time . see if its happening coz of some ram stick .

Antivirus programs scan files as they're accessed. They're designed to catch things that come in and are present on the system. In addition, antivirus programs can and do remove viruses from the system(Granted, it may be through a system scan). Not sure where your information is coming from. Fact of the matter is, YOU'RE WRONG. Antivirus programs don't "trust" things because the user allows it through. That would be dumb.

if you are able to use ethernet connection, keep using it and see if the issue stops. It can definitely be the OS acting up with your wifi adapter. Some people have the same adapter and same OS but different hardware setup so I guess it varies from build to build. Is your OS up to date?
