No space for network card

Hey guys, I'm planning on buying two MSI R9 290x Lightning cards after the year but they are quite big and will be taking up about 3 slots each.  This means that I will no longer have room for a wireless card inside my PC.  My pc is in the top floor of my house and my router in the bottom so I don't really want to be running a big cable around my house.  

 

I was thinking of maybe a USB wireless dongle, or something along those lines, but I don't how these tend to perform.  So if someone could give me any ideas that would be great.

I use a 9 dollar wireless dongle and I get my full 120MBPS speed

Your Lightnings will be in PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2

 

The PCIEX4_2 slot should be free to take your network card no?

 

How many floors are between the router and PC? What router are you using and what is your internet subscription speed?

 

My network card is PCI not PCIEX, and the only PCI slot on my mobo will be inaccessible when i put a card into PCIEX16_2.

 

there is one floor between my router and pc and i have a Super Hub 2 from virgin media on 30mb/s package
