For the price of getting a 980, you could get 2 additional 970s. Get a GTX970 and use the remainder on ram or towards a CPU upgrade or something.

If you plan on doing serious overclocking on the cards I recommend paying extra for the 980 because it features autobalancing power rails for smoother overclocking. This feature is only available with nvidia's flagship models.

i have a i7 4790k cpu so i wont be upgrading it anytime soon. I want to add a second gpu not have 1 980. Would there be any benefits off getting an 970 or 980 to add in sli and i dont want to go 3 way sli with 3 970s as i might have compatibility issues with some games.
