Asseto Corsa - Noob friendly?

Hello... again.

 

From what I'm reading, is it strictly a simulator, or are there other 'modes' or settings that one could use to make it a bit more.... noob friendly? If not, I'm probably going to have to go with Grid Autosport.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Eh, somewhat, depending on the server. Some servers have complete dicks who kick you instantly. Most are pretty chill in my experience. If you like drifting, people in the drifting servers are usually chill.

I usually suck at racing games, but I do love driving so I gave it a try and I can assure you if you have basic knowledge of how a car works or how you respond to certain things you will learn really quickly. I've spend 4 hours by now and I can finish laps by now without crashing into a wall :D It's all about training - braking points, throttle response, steering and most importantly the layout of the course.

However you can change settings like automatic transmission, steering help, etc and it supports most controllers so it's pretty "noob friendly" for a simulator.

If you love realistic driving go for Assetto Corsa, if you prefer a standard racinggame with action get Grid ;)

Btw Grid Autosport is pretty cheap from many keyshops so you could actually just get both :P

You can turn on the assist on single player in AC. I suggest get an Xbox 360 controller if you don't have budget for a wheel. 

Grid Autosport is currently 75% off, maybe you can get both.

AC seems to have a pretty steep learning curve, took me awhile before I could get around a track without frequently spinning out. My problem though is I can't get my 360 controller to feel right. I've played around with the settings and it's either way too twitchy with the steering, or it's numb and slow and not responsive enough. So I've been holding off on playing it until I get a wheel. Assetto Corsa is more my style of game, but I've had more fun with Grid Autosport because the 360 controller works very well with it and it's got a nice lengthy career mode.

AC is great especially the pickup server mode.

You can join a server which is in pickup mode and practice mode and drive some relaxed laps.
