Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but...

I am building a pc and i was wondering if after installing windows(8.1 64-bit,) off of a disk, you can remove the optical drive without causing anything, or if you need to need to go through certain steps to remove it.

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but thanks for helping out.

no such thing as a stupid question on this forum. Welcome!

just shutdown your computer then unplug the optical disk drive. Your computer may lockup/freeze if you decide to remove the optical disk drive while the computer is on.
