Transfer infers an item is moved from one place to another

Convert infers an item is changed from one state to another.

 Technically speaking I'm not sure, however I'd say convert is wrong. 

 

When you transfer from something to another, Its not really a big deal.

However when you convert its a big deal. 

Example. "I transferred from xbox to playstation"                   "I converted from console to PC"

"I transfered from this school to this school"                         "I converted from christianity to buddhism"

The concept behind "transferring" schools is that you are taking all of your grades and academic history and transferring them to another school. "Converting" usually means that your changing the nature of something. You can convert MP3 files to WAV files. While they are both audio, they have been converted to a different type of itself.

That might have sounded overcomplicated. If so, I apologize.
