I'd say go for the note 4, or the m8.

I have the s5 and my friend has the m8. I would say I prefer the s5 better, but that's just me

Sony Xperia Z3, LG G3 or Samsung Note 4 or Samsung S5 or HTC M8

Can't just choose from one of these out of the blue. It depends what's important to you in a smartphone. Camera quality (Z3), sound quality (M8), battery life (Note 4), etc.

G3, cause it is unique, or the Note 4, can't recommend Sony myself, because I rather they go die in a hole for what they have done to me

I really like HTC's skin/flavor for android. I find it very simple and sophisticated. I've seen what LG does and it looked very un optimized. I use an M8.

Have you used the LG ui? Or just seen it, because for the hardware it is optimized

I have the S5 and IT IS AMAZING. The screen is vibrant, the battery lasts me a whole day, it acts as my remote control, and it's pretty durable! I've dropped my phone about 5 times and I've only gotten dents, no cracks. I love it. I've also submerged it on sand and it was OK. Same goes for water. I used my phone in the rain, poured water on it from a faucet, fountain of rainwater, and it's been OK.

However, the screen got a 0.5 to 1 cm scratch, as one of the drops made my phone slide a foot across asphalt because I was running. The glass is pretty scratch resistant, however, I do have micro scratches, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting phantom glass.

However, using the stock ringtone and notification sound is a bit too quiet, as I cannot hear it in a public place. Once I used a song as my ringtone, it was plenty loud.

It really depends on what you want from a smartphone each has their own advantages. The M8 has great speakers and is metal so if you're looking for durability that is your best option out of those. I personally wouldn't consider the S5 at all in this situation. All the appealing features on that phone are available on the other phones, the Note 4 has all the touchwiz stuff plus extra for the phablet size, Z3 has waterproofing that is arguably better than S5, and all the other phones have equal or better specs. It does have a more grippy back than any of the other phones but that's about the only advantage. The G3 has a great 1440p panel which is the biggest draw for it in this lineup but this comes at some cost (watch linus's review). Personally I think it is easily the most ergonomic of these phones, it has a curved back that isn't too slippery and when compared to the slab design of most of the other phones is quite comfortable. The Note 4 is arguably the best android phone on the market. It has top of the line specs, the best screen available on phones atm and some great features. I personally hate touchwiz and even the extra phablet features weren't enough to lure me to the note 4 (I opted for Nexus 6). It has a great camera, again on of if not the best on a phone right now. The Z3 is a great phone, It looks great, has the equal specs to most of the others and it is waterproof. 

I hate it when you ask about specific products and somebody just responds saying you should get a completely different think cause they love it blah blah but I think I should also mention the One plus one and the Nexus 5, they are both great phones and are pretty cheap unlocked which could also make them a viable option. 

Overall the note is the clear winner when it comes to pure spec and features but you may not want a huge phone or don't like touchwiz. If you don't want a huge phone I think the Z3 would be my second pick but again it's up to you.

Have you used the LG ui? Or just seen it, because for the hardware it is optimized

To a degree, It was for a short while while i helped someone figure out how to remove a pre installed app on a G3. What do you mean by "for the hardware"?

Oh well I didn't mean performance optimized, I meant simply useability. I didn't like it.

I think it's pretty subjective, but personally I like the HTC M8 and LG G3.
