I bought my sister an Antlion Mod mic 4.0 for Christmas. She needed a new mic because when she is in a Skype call, she gets crazy amounts of static. It drowns out her voice (and is obviously annoying). Her old mic was the mic on the Logitech G230 (I did not have any influence on that purchase ).

Sadly the static is still there. Her voice is better, when it can be heard, but the problem is not solved. So now I know its the on board audio, right? I mean what else could it be? Mic boost is 0.

So she needs a DAC / external sound card that can accept mic input. Any suggestions? She can't spend more than 60 USD, and it needs a 3.5mm input for her new mic (Although any suggestion are OK as I'm also looking for one an I can spend more)

edit:

what I've already done:

   - The mic is in the back not front panel

   - Mic boost is 0

   - the plug is in all the way

Plug your mic from the back not the front.

Haven't really tried any thing else. Ill try it in curse and in audacity in a bit.

If it is just Skype, What can I do to fix it?

I will try to think about it when it's true.
