I am making my own build and I was wondering which power supply would be suitable for my hardware. I am not very familiar with power supplies and I don't want to risk getting bottlenecked.

CPU: i5 4690K

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970

RAM: x2 DDR3 Corsair Vengeance at 4GB and 2133MHz each

Thanks a lot!

A decent 500w would be plenty. Where are you shopping/located?

The psu shouldn't bottleneck the system. Either it can power it and the system turns on or it doesn't and the system shuts off.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

With that single GTX 970 anything with 500W or higher will suit you perfectly. For a high quality unit for a good price, take a look at the Antec Neo ECO 520, a noticeably better quality PSU then the EVGA 500B or CX500 for a similar price.

If you plan to add a second GTX 970 later on as well as overclock, I would recommend at least a 600-650W.

Actually there has been numerous cases of performance being limited or issues being caused by the power supply not providing enough juice under load, the system doesn't just shut off unless the OCP is tripped.

Anything from a reputable brand with an 80+ certificate that is over 500W will do just fine. if you go with something like a 750W PSU will have the option to add a second GTX 970 in the future and still have some PSU power to spare.
