Lazy Man Cable Sleeving

arundel

Hi guys,

So I want to sleeve those god awful cables in my EVGA hadron air, specifically the 24 pin and the 2 x 6 pins for my gtx 970. I'm a bit lazy, so I want to sleeve 2 cables in one sleeve/heatshrink, so what diameter sleeve should I get? From what I gather 1/8" (4mm) is for single cable, so should I be getting 1/4" (8mm)? Also, how much feet of sleeving would I need for my cables, and where can I get green 1/4" sleeving?

I would try somewhere like Mod DIY or FrozenCPU for stuff like that, as for the lengths just do a rough measurement of the cable length, number of cables and take half for the number of cables. Also I think around 6-8mm sleeving will for the two wire method.

4-6mm sleeve should do the trick for 2 wires.

FrozenCPU and Performance-PCs should also have some available.

so 4mm will work? Looking at tutorials with 4mm sleeves, there looks like very little room after one cable is in.

Go for 6mm, I was thinking 2mm was what is used for single wires, but 3mm is actually what is used. My bad.

EDIT: Darkside says 2mm sleeving for 1 cable, ModDIY says 3mm.

6mm is good I have some 2mm sleeving I purchased on clearance for cheap and trust me for 18 AWG wire it does not work well with it, your sleeving will expand slightly and show the cable underneath, I only recommend 2mm for sleeving thin wires such as front panel IO.

Our 4mm LC Teleios will fit 2 16awg wires inside of it very snug - this may be to an advantage for you as it will help it stay a bit cleaner.

Also from experiance sleeving two cables into one sleeve on like a 24pin doesnt always turn out the greatest. You may want to consider doing single sleeving and using the heatshrinkless method as it will be easy to do and look very nice.

Here is an example of single sleeving an an Hadreon:

This one was done for timmytechtv and he loved it.
