wow, nice shot!

that's the deal of the day anybody with an older motherboard should jump on this...in store pick-up only!

This is a more realistic price but still pretty good, older CPU are worth a lot of money still...it's such a good chip for a gaming rig

If it were me, I'd probably hang on to that $250, save a little more, and upgrade to a Broadwell- or Skylake-based Core i5 when they become available.

Between the options listed, the i5-3570K for sure.

Broadwell is not an enthusiast or mainstream it is a rock, a die shrink of Hashwell. Broadwell is more for a mobile platform. Sky lake is mainstream and enthusiast.

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

Are Broadwell Core i5 and i7 SKUs not coming to the desktop at all? If so, that's the first I've heard of it.

I know it wouldn't be much of an upgrade over Haswell, but personally I'd be happy to wait a few months for a modest IPC improvement, and the possibility that the power efficiency improvements could translate to better overclocking than Haswell.

Things aren't looking good for broadwell... Skylake is being pushed forward and rumors are Broadwell maynot come to desktop because of that... And Broadwell is expecting a next to 0 IPC improvement and power efficiency improvements of 2.5-3% (based off of small amounts of testing)   and on the topic of Overclocking don't expect anybetter than you'll get out of devil's canyon... Silicon can only go so fast and the 4.5~5 Ghz range is about the best that can be gotten at any consistency  and maintained in any decent fashion both AMD and Intel have acknowledged this (especially AMD if they could break it with any sort of consistency there'd be a 6Ghz FX chip)

If that's the case, so much the better. Skylake is a much more interesting product anyway. I'm waiting for an upgrade as well, which will be much more convenient if Broadwell is glossed over and Skylake is out sooner.

Yep my thoughts exactly  personally I'd hold out for CannonLake cause Skylakes gonna be the Tick(first batch) which can be kind of risky especially since it's gonna support DDR3 and 4 which can cause some oddities here and there  and yeah if broadwell comes to desktop it'll have nothing on Haswell... maybe in the future if someone wants to replace a G3258 on a Z97 board they could get a broadwell cause why not? but to jump to it is gonna be impractical... Sky and Cannonlake are far more however and there is the possibility of AMD's Zen being a good thing so 2016 will be a good year for CPUs

Well, I'm using an i5-750. I'm probably going to draw the line at Skylake. :P

Useful consideration for OP, though.
