What OS to choose ?

Hi i am currently buying parts for my first every gaming rig. I was wondering what OS i should use in my system either windows 7 or 8. I know that windows 8 is not very popular but i was wondering if overall performance is better then windows 7?

Just get Windows 8. You can install Classic Shell or Start Is Back and get the same functionality as Windows 7, But it will be supported longer and also be improved on more frequently. You will also get alot more features from Windows 8, including a performance increase in certain games. Typically in games, there is similar or greater performance from windows 7 to 8.

Okay, thank you. This may sound stupid but will all the games i currently have on steam still run on Windows 8?

I'm running windows 8 with startisback at the moment, its basically all the best of windows 8 with all the best of windows 7. Plus you do get a slight increase in gaming performance over windows 7 with windows 8 as it uses less background resources.

Personally, I haven't had issues with Steam on Windows 8.
