How will this turn out?

Go to solution Solved by Faceman,

Corsair XMS 8GB RAM - 784

Corsair CX600W PSU - 649

BitFenix Comrade Chassis - 390

Seagate 1TB HDD - 549

Asus DVD - 159

Asus R9 280 - 1990 <-- MUCH better GPU than the GTX760 while relatively the same price.

i5-4440 - 1599

Asus H81M-E - 489

Now, this brings the total to 6609.  It is over budget, but it is vastly superior to the build you created.

Why is it superior?  Because the i5 is much better than an FX8.  For the FX8 to be good, it really needs to be overclocked.  For it to even run at stock speeds, you would need a better motherboard, because the one you selected is not sufficient to power that FX8 even at stock speeds without throttling.  If you do want to go with the FX, you could use this Asus M5A97 for 790.  It will still be less expensive than the Intel build, but again, the Intel option is the superior gaming processor.  Not to mention, FX8 is not the greatest without overclocking.  If you really want to stay under 6000, go for an i3.  Even an i3 will outperform an FX8, and it will bring you below the 6,000 price point.

The i3-4130 for just 979 is excellent price to performance for a non-overclocking gaming build that will bring you under the 6,000 price point.  You can pair it with the same motherboard I mentioned above and if you ever want to, can upgrade to an i5 or i7.

The 7950 is very comparable to the R9 280, so use that as an idea of what performance to expect.

Hello there everyone!!

I have a question for you, how will this rig work?

I heard some rumors about that the FX-6300 was a huge bottleneck with the gtx 760...

So I swapped the CPU to a FX-8320 instead, will this work better??

I mostly play ArmA 3 and Battlefield 4.

Best regards Andreas.

An FX6 is a fine match with a 760.  Your problem is that ARMA3 is incredibly CPU intensive and depends on strong cores, not weak ones.  If you can, buying a core i3 or i5 would be in your best interest.  It will perform much better from day one in both games, as well as give you an upgrade path.

In your situation you need faster cores, not more cores. ARMA3 doesn't use 6 let alone 8 cores.

I'd grab a Intel solution rather than spend more money on an AMD one that won't actually offer any more performance.

The 6300 is not a Huge bottleneck for the 760, But in ARMA 3 even the i7 5960x will almost be a bottleneck in arma 3 with the GTX 760 at some points.

But getting the 8320 is a Much better choice since it is better at multitasking and are also about 25% more powerful when using all cores.

The 4300, 6300 and the 8320 have about the same core performance,

My a6 6400k has about the same core performance as the fx series and bottleneck my GTX 660, It only reaches 60% at most games at the graphics pre-sets, Personally i would say even the 4300 would not bottleneck the gtx 760 too much.

Intel is better in general, and in arma 3, it is MUCH better. Even an i3 will probably beat an am 9590.

Ok, so it seems that I culd use some help here, if you where on a budget around 6000 Swedish "crowns" (aprox. 775 USD), what Intel CPU+mobo combo whould you choose?

Here is a link to a Swedish site I use ALOT, http://www.webhallen.com/

If you could, use these parts, just change mobo and CPU:

gr8 for bf4

An 8320 will definitely work better with the 760, but as of now Arma 3 is a hit or miss for optimization. You should be fine with the 760+8XXX combo though.

Your bottom link is not working =/

I'm trying to put together a build for you, but if you already have a plan, it would be helpful to build upon.

Now its working.  Ok, we need to rework a few things.  Give me a few, and I'll be back with something.

Thank you so much, I'm glad that there is people that knows there shit and are willing to help, this looks great!

But I have one question, why is the R9 280 so much better?

I am a fanboy of Nvidia so I whuld like a Nvidia card, if you can't convince me ofcourse...

The GTX760 is more on the level of an R9 270.  The R9 280 is more on the level of a GTX770.

The GTX760 only has 2GB of VRAM, while the R9 280 has 3GB of VRAM.  VRAM is starting to become more and more important, even at 1080p.  Games are starting to require 3-4GB of VRAM for Ultra textures.  So, by going with an R9 280 with 3GB of VRAM, it will give you better performance from day one, as well as last longer because it is a more powerful card.  You can probably squeeze at least another year of useful life out of an R9 280.

Ok, you have got me hooked!

The R9 will be my GPU.

But then I have another question for you, I play as a cop on a Altis life server, there is usually a lot of rdm and vdm and such, so that's one reason to that I picked the GTX card, to get Shadowplay...

Is there any other AMD counterpart to Shadowplay?

What is a cop on Altis Life server?  An MMO?  If you play MMOs, you definitely need an Intel processor to enjoy them.  FX processors have very weak cores, and MMOs(and other games too) really need strong cores to run properly.

AMD does have something similar to Shadowplay, I'm not sure what it is called, but it is some form of recording.

Is a game mode inside ArmA 3, a life rpg, you play as a character with a "real" name and identity.

The whole point of this is to Roleplay as much as possible.

Gotcha, well, especially a game like ARMA3, you need an Intel processor because it is a game that relies on strong cores.  I would go with an i5 if at all possible.
