Doesn't Boot, Need Help.

Go to solution Solved by P.T Networx Australia,

Well, I have a 850Watt NZXT HALE90V2 so it is a pretty big power supply. Do you think I should return my power supply for a Replacement of the same one, or return it and get my money back and go by another from some other place, like maybe a 750Watt off Corsair.

Your Power Supply is good, If anything id set it up on a test bench With only the motherboard and CPU connected and see how that goes, If that fails, Make sure you've tested the Power Supply by Jumping the wires with a Paper Clip with nothing connected to it. If the power supply fails, Replace it. If the Power supply works by itself, Replace the motherboard. If everything works on the test bench add 1 stick of ram at a time and continue building the system while testing after adding each component. Until you find the fault. You may find that one of the ram Sticks are dead. Either way, You will find the issue doing this way.

Keep me updated and let us all know how you go :)

Good Luck!

I just got done building my new rig. The motherboard light is on, but nothing else will boot. I checked all my connecters including front panel connecters. I double checked my ram, made sure that was in okay. Graphics card is fine. Hard drives are hooked up correctly. Any suggestion please?

~Snapy :(

PS: Something makes a clicking nose when I try to boot.

Can you pinpoint where the issue is coming from?

I dont know where its coming from, the clicking noise sounds like its coming from either the power supply of graphics card.

So the power supply turns on?

It doesnt turn on, but it will somehow give my motherboard power, when I flip the switch in the back my motherboard LED will turn on, but the power supply fans do not spin or nothing.

Power supply is the issue. Try replacing it(or using one lying around) and see if everything turns on.

Shorting out the power pins on the motherboard with a flathead screwdriver.

From experience, I would point the finger at the Power Supply, Generally when there is not enough power to run the system, You will hear what sounds like a click coming from the Power Supply, Try Powering it up with only the CPU and Motherboard being powered. try it again, It should work with just the motherboard connected.

If this doesnt solve your issue, I would make sure the system isnt shorting. Perhaps something isn't plugged in properly or the motherboard may be shorting against the case. Before id take it any further as to replacing parts i would set up a test bench and run only the Motherboard, And processor, And see how that goes.

Any suggestions if that dont work? Just for future references.

As to this. Did im guessing you had nothing connected to it and you Jumped it using the Green Wire and A Black Ground Wire only?

Another question to ask is the most important of all....What power supply do you have? If you've bought a cheap SHAW power supply or something like that, That may be your issue...
