around 35-40C, mine runs at 25C so its alright

Run CrystalDiskInfo. It will give you the temps of each drive and will tell you whether that's a good temp or not. A well built system will generally be in the green all of the time. Only externals get warm.

HDD runs hotter because of the spinning platter. SSD heat is just from the electronics. My Intel 520 SSD does not even have a temperature sensor, so it might not be an important metric.

 

My comfort zone is also maxed out at 40°C, including externals. I even have a case fan dedicated to keeping my external drives cool during operation.

A case with proper intake fans blowing over HDDs isn't going to make them hotter than 47-42C. Mine has been active about 4 hours while writing this. Highest temp for primary HDD is 33C, 10C above room temp, and it has been in use more than idle. I have 1 200mm fan keeping air flowing in.
