Just got my ass whooped by parents  (ur typical Asians) when they saw my GCSE mock grades and they thought Bs were crap and i got 2 Cs (Computing and French, both i got one of the highest in my class and still did crap). I am crapping myself due to what they said that i should get As in everything even though i got above average in the year and will get study leave.

And btw, i am going to a top grammar school and everyone still did crap in their mocks (a crapton of people got Cs, Ds and Es).

All the rest are As and 1 A* in chemistry.

So i want to ask, what GCSE requirements do universities which specialise in computing hardware require, and are GCSEs and A-Levels equally as important or is 1 more important over the other?

( i have already secured an A in GCSE maths, ICT and English Language (english coursework)

And i just want to know, how did u guys do in ur GCSEs and what careers u have now and what gardes were required.

And how hard did u guys work to get there, and how early should i start revising and for how much each day.

Thanks for the long post, any help will be appreciated

SNIP

GCSEs are pretty worthless, especially if you have A Levels

Universities work on a points system called UCAS, and each grade is worth a certain amount of points

You can get into university with Ds and Es or As and Bs, depends where you go,

You can also do a preliminary year to get up to speed and earn extra UCAS points

When you try to get a job in the real world your grades only matter 5%. Communication skills and experience are far more important that what grades you get in school.

Tell your parents to lay off because grades matter shit to your success in the real world.

Universities don't even care about GCSE's. Even in one of their best courses(Politics, Philosophy and Economics or PPE for short) they don't give a sh*t about GCSE since they're so 'low' level.

Even though I'm not British, in the Caribbean the CSEC and CAPE examinations are the equivalents to the GCSE and A levels so, if you plan on anything in the Caribbean, its the same story really. Its really the A levels that talk for universities

Exactly (aww can I live where you do :( its so beautiful)

But yes this exactly

And you can get into some courses without high grades, or without grades at all, and you can always use the Open University to get  a course at home while you work without any prior qualifications, or do a booster course
