do you have a second computer and a 6gb or bigger thumbdrive? if so you can download an iso of your version of windows and boot from the drive..

You bricked your mobo. It's dead deal with it.

Unless you choose a bios that supports the mobo, it's dead sorry to be the bearer of bad news

i thinkl thats bull shit.

Because it still boots up.

Only windows doesnt boot. so yeah, its not a bricked bios.

@J.K Lag:

can you get into the bios?

Well then he installed the right bios and the thread title is wrong...

If you brick a bios, then you will simply dont get anything on screen anymore lol.

i needto do some research if gigabyte has a usb flashback option like Asus does.

I know their X99 boards have this feuture, but im not sure how about Gigabyte Z97 boards.

I know, that's why I said "unless you got a bios that supports it".

Don't worry I have a list of hardware I have bricked while ocing and bios hacks...

I hope not, just had the motherboard and cpu yesterday -.-

Try returning it?

My thoughts on what happened is you updated the BIOS to the Z87 version, not the Z97 version, and your CPU is no longer compatible.  Without knowing more, that is my guess.

Yes i still could get into the bios.

So its not bricked then.

But just your windows setup is screwed, has nothing to do with your mobo, most likely.

Check date and time settings, and check sata configuration settings.

If you run your OS from SSD, then AHCI mode should be enabled.

Offcourse idk, in which mode your original OS was installed in?

If you have no clue, from what im saying, then i would advice to check the sata configuration, set them to ahci mode. and do a new fresh Windows installation.

Your Gigabyte motherboard has dual BIOS chips. This also why Gigabyte named it 'DualBIOS.'

The primary BIOS can be flashed by the user, while the secondary back-up BIOS cannot. That secondary BIOS will kick in if the primary BIOS encounters an issue -- in your case, you flashed the wrong damn BIOS onto your motherboard.

Before you do anything else, if you can access the BIOS settings, check all your settings.

  • Make sure your SATA ports are in AHCI mode
  • Check that your CPU is running at stock settings -- get rid of any overclocks -- for the sake of troubleshooting
  • Ensure everything is running a stock / default settings

Try again, and see if you can boot into Windows.

Well the Crosshair V Formula Z has the ASUS USB BIOS Flashback stuff I believe. So you must have gone very wrong to not be able to recover it :(

And you must also have gone very wrong on those GPUs as most of the time you can install a 2nd card, use integrated or just blindflash your old BIOS back ;)

What the poster above me says may prove useful to you, otherwise I'd give installing a fresh Windows a shot, failing that get into contact with the manufacturer to arrange an RMA.
