so im looking for the cheapest possible board for an fx 8 core CPU, the ones i have picked out are these 3:

Biostar TA970: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138372&cm_re=amd_fx-_-13-138-372-_-Product

Gigabyte GA-970A: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128602&cm_re=amd_970-_-13-128-602-_-Product

Asrock 970 PRO 3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157364&cm_re=amd_970-_-13-157-364-_-Product

the biostar one has a decent set of features for the price, how reliable are their products??

also if any of you can find a good deal for an fx 8000 series CPU, plz link it

Thanks in advance

Unless you plan on mainly rendering, get an i5 instead. Anyways, here's the cheapest motherboard you should get:

Wow wow wow. An 8 core processor, that from amd with 120 watts.

The power phase on all except the 990 chipset is bullshit.

Don't use any of em

so the only ones with decent power delivery (and oc capability) are the 990??

hmm ill look into them

welp, all 990 chipset boards are 100<

Yeah, trust me young even want to run an 8 core on those 990 or 980.

The best mobo overall is the crosshair v formula z from asus.

The best power delivery system belongs to the f1tality extreme.

The 970AUD3P is the best of the low end and is generally regarded as an acceptable non-990FX board if you can't get one.

so the f1tality has good power delivery even on 970 chipset?

It's a 990fx

As long the the board has the proper cooling, VRMs are fine, power phase is good enough, then it would be fine.

Some recommendations for a cheap AM3+ board are a GA-970A-UD3P, M5A97 R2.0, 970 Gaming.

He wants to oc...

i dont wanna OC too heavy, say the fx 8320 has a turbo of 4.0, i wanna take the non-turbo to 4.0 and turn off the turbo or something like that

All of the boards that i mentioned above are fine for 4.0GHZ, a user(let me find his name) has is 8320 on a M5A97 R2.0 OC'd to 4.3GHZ.

And those boards can handle a OC'd FX 8 Core cpu as long they have the proper cooling, VRMs are fine, power phase is at least 4+2.

Seeing from your specs, you probably think that you need a 990FX board to OC a FX 8 chip.

Got it from a friend whose name I forgot.

8+2 is recommended

6+2 is minimum

4+2 discouraged

Don't listen to the Intel Fanboys, mate.

Get the 8 core, and get the Asus M5 A97 Evo (NOT the LE version).

I'm on 8350 Black Edition, overclocked very comfortably at 4.4Mhz. In synthetic benchmarks, it beats all I5's.

...nobody is fanboying in here, and that's not how this works.

you really do need a 990FX if you're planning on overclocking 8c PD beyond maybe 4.3Ghz or 8 phase VRM minimum

AMD chips are very hard on the motherboard, and even if some of these overclocks work and are stable, odds are the board is taking a beating and cannot sustain a high workload for an extended amount of time before thermal throttling.

6 phase is really not that great, god forbid someone have the audacity to try a 4 phase board.

You're the one who is fanboying. I have a FX 8350 and at 4.7 it is slower then Hashwell i5 intel is on a different level...

And 4.4mhz is SLOW
