Okay, I really want to get my Cambridge English Certificate but I don't know what exam I should take.

I can choose between:

 :http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams/proficiency/ (CPE)

Or

http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams/advanced/ (CAE)

I am not a native speaker but my school teaches a really high level of English ( EU-C1-Advanced) And because I do pretty much all my things in English ( I rarely read news articles in my native language) , phone software is English, my notes I take at school are in English and the study I'm wanting to do ( IBA ) is in English.

Please help me decide, if there are any people who know the differences between these tests that would be awesome.

If you are really confident in your english, then challenge yourself and pick the hardest. I mean, why not right?

I had the same decision to make a few months ago, and I was in a completely same situation you are (not a native speaker, but a really good English level..C1/2). I chose CAE since most universities accept it as a high enough English level and because it's much easier to finish, but then again, CPE looks much better on your CV. But the final decision is on you. P.S. the main difference is in the actual English level, and from what I've heard CPE is a lot, lot higher than CAE. The actual test taking and the procedure is the same :)

If I fail that's like 500 dollars down the drain.

Tyvm for the reply, I know that CAE does suffice in most cases but on the other hand, CPE is so beast. The description only:

Cambridge English: Proficiency, also known as Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), is our most advanced qualification. It proves you have achieved an extremely high level in English.

But on the other hand, it's not mandatory at all in most cases.

@LinusTech would I need CPE to work at LMG?
