Upgrading is a beach

So I just upgraded my laptop from an ancient Pentium-powered Lifebook to a new, underpowered-yet-well-built Latitude.

I powered it up feeling very pleased with myself and went about uninstalling bloat and downloading and customzing Firefox.

But then I made the mistake of attaching my desktop's monitor as an aditional external display.

The stark difference in brightness gave me whiplash.

Why does the monitor suddenly look so crap? Why does my old keyboard suddenly feel so mushy? What have I done!?

Anyone have similar experiences?

Before you ask, I already had the monitor at max brightness.

Well you did say upgrading was a "beach"

You probably shouldn't be doing computer upgrades on a beach. That water could destroy your components.

 eGPU Setup: Macbook Pro 13" 16GB DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD, i5 3210M, GTX 980 eGPU

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W
