Windows 8.1 student version!

Hey guys!! 

 

I have a question. My brother goes to a university here in hungray. One of the students told him he can download windwos 8.1 for free with his student id. 

Does anyone know how to do that?? We tried contacting the university but couldn't get trough yet. We'll do it tomorrow. But if you have any idea please tell me!!

Sure, university either hands out copies or you get dreamspark. I have a free copy of windows and autocad and office from my uni.

Sure, university either hands out copies or you get dreamspark. I have a free copy of windows and autocad and office from my uni.

I like how you used ''free'' , I assume you pay alot for the education/ your government pays. (via taxes so you pay too.)

Ye. I didn't have to pay extra though.  :lol:

and honestly all autocad software would cost me more than my parents pay in taxes.  :lol:

Nope. In hungary if you have good grades you don't pay. He even gets a little cash every month!! Yeah via texes but everyone pays taxes...

In the exact moment, it is free. I'm receiving the product at no extra cost than what is mandatory (taxes.) and I'm not out $110 for an OS.

Not really. Even when you paid only like 1 cents via taxes, even at that exact moment it's not ''free''. That's the same as saying that you won the lottery and got 1 million of ''free'' money.

There is. But it is not worth it.... I'd much rather pay for uni and live in a better place... or just move to germany or denmark :D that is free if you're from the eu. I think it is the same in hungary aswell.

If you end up getting it from dreamspark most of the time they do not limit your ability to get multiple programs. I was only supposed to get 1 copy of windows 8.1 pro, microsoft office 2013, microsoft office 2010 for mac, and microsoft visio. But I noticed there was a purchase for free option on other things so i went ham and got windows xp pro, windows vista pro, windows 7 pro, windows 8 pro, maya 2013, microsoft project pro 2013 and the programs i mentioned at the beginning of this post.

 

You never know when extra software will come in handy. I know for me it already has I built a computer for a friend and he didnt have the money to buy windows so i loaded windows 8 pro using the key i got from dreamspark and got the free 8.1 pro upgrade through the update.

Sorry, I had a Hungarian roommate in college and those are the only words I remember. We went to a Hungarian restaurant and he was telling about some liquor called kerite sagato palinka. He said it translated to fence ripping palinka, as in it got you so pissed off that you'd pull the fence posts out your yard after drinking it. So naturally I screwed up and told the waitress I wanted kerite seggedbe palinka, and both she and my friend died laughing (I think it translates to something like fence post up the ass palinka).

Why the i5 over the FX-8350?
