Hello,

I am planning a new build which I will use not just for gaming, but rather a multi purpose one including photo processing as well.

This is the basic setup which I have planned till now:

  1. Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
  2. CPU: Intel i7-4790K
  3. CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
  4. RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz (8GB x 2)
  5. GPU: Asus GTX 970 4GB DCU II DDR 5
  6. SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 3 SSD
  7. Storage Drive: Seagate 2TB 64MB SATA3
  8. Case: NZXT Phantom 410
  9. Power Supply: Cooler Master G650 Semi Modular Gold 7yrs
  10. Keyboard: Logitech G105 USB
  11. Mouse: Logitech G502 USB

I need  some help in evaluating how the setup will be. I am open to suggestions/ enhancements (but I am on a budget as well).

The things I am concerned about are: Motherboard (if it will be powerful enough) and power supply. Also how many case fans should I have (apart from the 3 stock ones given by NZXT)

Any help is appreciated.  :)

Looks perfect to me.

In B4 "i5 instead of i7". But yeah, you could get by with an i5 just fine, but if it fits in your budget, the i7 is fine.

Motherboard is perfect, anything more than that isn;t going to be "more powerful". Just....prettier with features you don't need.

Someone else will reccomend a better PSU I'm sure. That one will work, but I think EVGA has a decent Gold rated PSU for good prices right now.

My location in Singapore, and my budget is around 1800 USD.

you def have a nice setup

but the H100i has plenty of issues which I suggest you avoid and opt for other brand of watercooler

is that PSU is V or G?

G are Bronze rated

V are the Gold Rated

Hi,

Sorry the PSU is a V650 (not G). I checked the online PSU Calculators, that the maximum wattage I might require is 450. So, keeping 200 as buffer in case I need an extra HDD or GPU later, I opted for the 650. Should I look for a better one?

Any suggestions regarding the watercooler?

I will probably get it from PC Themes.  :) I normally follow the price lists published in hardwarezone.sg

Thanks for the suggestion!

Great! Thanks for the suggestions! However, upon checking the prices in Singapore, its coming about 500$ above my budget!  :(

But apart from that, is the MSI Gaming 5 better than the Asus Z97-A? They are almost the same price!

if you like Red/Black builds

then you can opt for the board

MSI Dragon Army over Asus ROG

price of the GTX970 SLi will be high

suggest going for single GTX980 or the MSI 290X Lightning
