Hi,

I'm having to decide between the NZXT H440 or the NZXT Phantom 530 as the case I was planning (the Corsair 760T) is awesome, but expensive...

So which one should I get? They both look great though in my opinion the H440 looks better and for sure is a quieter case, but the 530 has better cable management and cooling abilities and options. But that info is all from reviews I've watched.

If you have either of these cases, could you please write a reply on which you think would be better for my build? Please support using evidence.

Thanks!

NZXT H440, or NZXT S340 if you want slightly cheaper. Amazing case and way better than the mainly plastic "gamer" Phantom series. You could also look at the Phanteks Enthoo Pro for about the same price as it's also very VERY good for it's price.

Awesome! Thanks for an amazingly quick reply. I think you hold the record for fastest. But is the H440 or S340 good for cooling? Because quite a few reviews say otherwise. For the Enthoo Pro, I was originally planning to use that but it doesn't exactly look great. Though it does have cooling options and abilities, it does also have a very "scratable" window which isn't wanted though you can ask for a new one.

So yeah, are the cases you recommend good for cooling?

@xSpaceSheepy1 something you have to realise is that people aren't necessarily going to recommend the case that's best suits you but rather the one they like the most. So, when this happens you just have to have a good think about which case you really wanna go with. ;)

They're decent for cooling, but definitely not the best - Consider the CoolerMaster HAF (High Air-flow) series for airflow or even the Corsair Carbide Air case. However ideally you'd want to do an AIO cooler in a H440 - as long as the ambient temperatures aren't that hot in your room (30Celcius) and you have reasonable cooling inside your case you should be fine. The fans pre-installed on the H440 are designed to pull in as much air as possible through the gaps - you could always buy after market Corsair AF or SP fans to pull in air. The Enthoo has good cooling and good looks however the window is quite scratchable, but it's modular so you can take it off and replace it if you wanted. As long as you don't plan on scratching the sidepanel you should be alright with it.

H440 and S340 do win if you want to go for a completely silent build, but expect temperatures inside the case to be anywhere up to 5C warmer inside than if it was in a case with better air flow, It's not that bad tbh - Intel CPUs can operate at almost no issue up to about 85C.

I'm pretty open minded though Geekazoid, I'm a diehard Corsair Fanboy but honestly their cases, other than the Corsair Spec 01 - Spec 03 cases are very expensive so Phanteks and NZXT are good alternatives. I'm not going to tell someone to get a bad case because I like it. I'm not too biased, people come to the forums for help - not for me to spread my corsair propaganda.

cooling in the h440 is great! 3x120 front intake. The only thing is that it can only breathe on one side of the fron panel (mesh covered holes). If the airflow isnt good enough you can remove the mesh quiet easily - and it sill looks good

Yeah, I know. But I asked for facts too which is always a plus. The thing is, the price of the H440... It costs nearly the same amount of the 530 when the 530 has better cooling and is bigger. But yeah, I guess you're right, a lot is opinion based.

-snip-

Thank you for not being as biased as you can and for all the facts. I think it's clear then... H440 it is? Also, I guess you can take off the front panel when you want and it can still look good and improve cooling so I guess that's a plus.

H440 because...just look at it

I know right! It looks amazing! Yet Razer helped and Razer does make good looking products in my opinion. But it still has to be good and worth it.

530 is very very plastic.

Yeah, seems to be. Though it's still meant to be good for cooling and in Linus' review, he says he doesn't have much to complain about it...

Do you have the H440 and can say first hand that it is great? And yeah, I guess you can just remove the entire front panel and it'll still look fine imo.

Thank you all for the replies and advice!

H440 vs Phantom 530, looks like the H440 wins. I have this strange feeling that the H440 is like one of the most popular cases on this forum...

I see we have a disagreement here. This just proves how subjective each person's idea of what looks aesthetically pleasing really is. ;)

No worries - and yea you can just pull the frontpanel (or top panel / side panel) off to create more airflow if you feel like you need it, shouldn't be that often though. And just as a btw, Razer didn't help design the NZXT H440, NZXT released the H440 and razer contacted them asking if they could go into a partnership and make a special 'Razer edition' of the case with the razer green USBs and razer logos. NZXT is entirely due credit for the amazing looking case.

Its not the best, but it certainly isnt the worst. It's an acquired taste. When I first saw It I absolutely hated it. Now I think its good. Same goes with corsair I guess :P thought their cases were way too bland but I ended up with a 750D in the end.

Absolutely! B)

However I seemed to have made an error. Upon rereading that post of yours I realised that you meant "Four forty!". But because I didn't read it correctly I thought that you were crap posting. Please accept my apologies mate! I must learn to read things twice, if not, thrice before replying. So, your post wasn't actually a crappy post after all. :)

Thanks again!

No worries mate, glad to help out where I can as well as the others, I'm sure. :)

The only thing I would change in that build would be the memory. This is a subjective taste, but I think these look better than the Corsair pair.

Yeah, well I personally love the H440. I think it's one of the best looking cases ever made, but the next person could think it looks hideous :). This is because everyone has a different opinion of what they think looks nice, as explained before. :)

I'd agree with @ThatCoolBlueKidd, as soon as I saw it, I loved it! Looks like I'm going with it now. Also, is it worth me getting a Seagate Barracuda 2TB Hybrid (SSHD) for another 30 USD?

Basically just aesthetics really, but that's is subjective to each person. You may not think the same.

Honestly, I wouldn't go for an SSHD. They're not as fast as your traditional SSD and they don't have much flash storage on them anyway. Your best option is to go for a pure SSD drive to pair with a traditional HDD. I believe most people would agree with me on this. ;)

Okay, I may still go with the vengeance though... Not 100% sure but I got around 3 weeks to decide before ordering all the parts and components.

As for the SSHD, I'll tell my friend as he was thinking about getting one.
