Processor for new builds?

How many people are actually using the new i7 5960X in builds.  I see lots of hype, but I haven't really seen anyone using them.

 

I'm running on an i7 2640M right now and it barely seems to get the job done.  I start my first build at the beginning of the year!

Because the people who use it are in professional environments, and are not gamers / tech hobbyists.

 

The i7-4790k / i7-5820k seem to be the go-to for high-end gaming on this forum.

The 5820K is great for performance vs cost.

 

I'm one of those professional types who needs raw CPU power so I am looking at the 5960X.  The build I'm planning is out of pocket, but I get to deduct it as a business expense...

If you have 1150$ to spend on a CPU... do not buy a consumer i7 go for an E5 unless you want to play games and do other unprofessional stuff

To be in the same ballpark for GFLOPS, Xeon route would be more expensive.

 

I work from home, so I don't see why I wouldn't go with something that would give me an awesome gaming rig as well.

Could I run dual 5930K on a server motherboard?  CPU cost would be about the same, but it would push raw CPU horsepower through the roof . . . :huh:
