Choosing Laptop RAM?

Go to solution Solved by snkmoorthy,

This ram is rated 1600Mhz. If you are using other modules say a 1333Mhz, then both modules would work at the lowest speed. Voltage for laptops is 1.5V usually. This module is rated for 1.35V and 1.5V so should work on your laptop.

Check CPU max. supported memory clocks as well.

Hi! I've been planning to upgrade the RAM for my laptop, Dell Inspiron 1764, which has 3GB's of DDR3 SODIMM memory (one 1GB and one 2GB stick). I just want to know whether I have to match speed, voltage (or whatever), or would any stick DDR3 SODIMM RAM would work? Eg. this one.

Thanks in advance, DamnTarget.

You have to match CL, MHz, not sure about voltage though.

Thanks! By CL you mean clock speed?

Cas Latency (Clock speed is how much MHz it has, CL is the latency - usualy CL9 or CL10 for 1600MHz RAM).

Thanks for the clarification!
