Weird fps for a Very strong PC

Kramerr13

So I built a desktop fairly recently... ~2months. This is the build:

Asus M5A99fx PRO R2.0

AMD FX-6300

Noctua NH-D14

8GB gskill 1800Mhz

gtx 760x2 acx cooler

EVGA supernova 750w

WDB 1tb HD

I am trying to play League of legends and the game will begin rendering at 180+ fps and will slowly drop to 80 frames as I continue to play and will eventually begin to dip to 30fps during team fights. I know that 1gtx 760 should handle this game fine... Why is this happening? Please help and thank you in advance.

Have you tried watching your temps? Limiting your FPS? (Chances are, you're using a 60Hz monitor. No reason to go beyond 80.)

I have a 60hz monitor and I use vsync. Even when I use vsync the computer will randomly dip to 30 fps in league. It runs skyrim on the highest possible settings+mods at a constant 60fps.

What is your CPU usage during the game? It could be a bottleneck.

So are you saying that this 6-core processor is bottlenecking with two 760s?

Yes. LoL only uses two cores (at most), and in heavy team fights, an FX6 WILL bottleneck two 760s. I have zero doubt on this. AMD's FX CPUs are known not to perform anywhere near as well as Intel CPUs, or even previous offerings like Phenom II's, when playing MMOs

Very possible with the 6300.

FX 6 core CPUs are not the same as Core i7 6 Core CPUs (And the FX technically does not have 6 cores)

Yeah it is... You could've built a lot better PC... Did you buy a store prebuild O.o Since it looks something like from a store... Like how they put here 2 770 SLI on FX 6300, which is quite a big bottleneck....

Did you try OC'ing your CPU for more performance O.o

Vsync purposely drops it to 30FPS every now and again to help keep it at 60. That's why you will notice stutter in some games if you have it on. You either deal with that, or deal with screen tearing.

I'm saying in that particular game, yes.

Also, probably most scenario's.

And this... A FX 6300 is a decent CPU but not good enough to handle two 760's without bottlenecking.

Should have done a i3 4150 and a GTX 770 really.

Rather than the 760s and a 6300. (More cores is not better in gaming, especially if they are weak ones)

Hmmmm, i know that (i just saw 4770 paired with 270, and it costs around 1500 USD), but i'm quite sure i saw a mid-ish to low end-ish CPU paired with 770 SLI, but it seems that model isn't sold anymore...

Debating what he should've bought is irrelevant now. However, if he wants to get rid of the 30fps framedips, he's going to have to move to Haswell.

Not explicitly Haswell...

Well..what else is there.

Phenom II with a decent OC

Sandy Bridge

Ivy Bridge

Wait for Broadwell

Why would you go with older CPU's.

Where I am you can get a second hand Z77 + unlocked Sandy/Ivy i5/i7 for $250-300.

would an overlcock fix the problem?

It will definitely help.
