Hi Everyone,

So I was not really sure where to post this topic so I decided to just do it here. I recently replaced my families router with a Netgear N900 because our old router had poor signal and I was starting to notice bad connectivity. So after setting everything up and finally getting back to playing my games I noticed some problems that still existed. I play CS:GO mainly and what has started to happen is during the games I will have low ping and good internet connection but my game will stutter or I will rubber band sometimes. Also, at the same time the people I am playing with cannot hear me talking in RaidCall. I do not know what the problem is. Also, I just reformatted my computer to see if that may have had anything to do with it, plus I just needed to reformat. I have no idea what to do to try and figure this out, if anyone could give some suggestions or insight that would be great.

Some more info: I use a Netgear N300 wireless card, the router is 3 days old. I am not sure if other computers are having trouble as my parents don't tend to notice/say anything about small stuff. The occurrences are random and sporadic. I can go a whole game without an issue or I can get back to back freezes of about 3 to 5 seconds of what seems like no internet despite perfect ping and connection.

If you need more info I will try to answer any questions, not really sure if I got everything I can think of. Also, the issue did excite just before I got the new router, but it seems its gotten worst.

Thanks

This seems pretty weird. I would prob check the internet line. This happened once to me when i changed the router, i had to call my ISP to change the port. Also, if your wireless card is kinda behind cabinets etc.. try to move your PC, this helped me as well to get better connection and lowered my ping by 10.

Try gaming with a cable from your router to your pc if its possible so that you can rule out if there are any problems with your connection.

Wireless is pretty much a best effort media. Just like what Darell said if you have your computer under your desk or in a cabinet somewhere it won't get as good reception as open area. LAN is the best solution for gaming or High-traffic connections. Try setting up QoS for your gaming rig and your NAT type could be moderate. if you have an advanced option for NAT try opening it.

Unfortunately I can't be wired as of right now because of how my house is, but I plan to be in the future. My problems may have been solved the other day when Comcast called us and told us that they were getting feedback from our lines and that it would mess with the wireless the most. So once they come out and fix it I think my problems will be gone.
