Hey guys!

Here's a build that I would like to do in the future... :)

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Robotob46/saved/1Ldj

I know Linus did a build kind of like this... Just FYI... :D Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWAeZYB9DGg

I'm looking for bottlenecks mostly... :P

I will not be overclocking this build...

I have made it so that it is quiet, small, and powerful! :)

I am planing on using this build for an all around use pc... Like cad, gaming, media pc (playing movies, watching youtube vids, etc.), and internet browsing... :P

My budget is 1,600 - 1,700... Which I'm already at... :P

And... Do you guys think I will be able to pull this build off with only a 450w SFX form factor power supply? If not... Could you tell me where I could find a PSU that is modular, SFX form factor, and 80 plus rated? That would be loverly... :P

Thanks!

Probably a bit safer to go 550-650 range... The recommended power is 600. I think there are higher wattage PSU's in the same line that you have there. Other than that looks like a little beast  ^_^

System:

  • Sharkoon T9 case
  • i7 - 2600k @ Stock
  • Coolermaster 212 evo
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68-UD3H-B3 Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB
  • Nvidia GTX 780 EVGA Classified edition
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
  • Samsung 840120GB SSD

Do you think I could still run this on the 450w? I have looked at higher W PSU's... And they are not as high quality as I would like... :P Do you possibly know of any PSU with 80 plus gold rating and modular? That would be loverly! :D Thanks! :)

i highly recommend the unlocked version of that CPU so you can overclock. other than that, i don't think there are any bottlenecks

As I said... I will not be overclocking this... :) The reason I am not is because I don't like to... :P Thanks for the input, though!

Had a quick look then, these are Australian prices so I don't know your equivalent:

If they don't suit your needs, you could always go down to that terrible level of 80+ bronze or silver. I bet you won't even notice B)

Do you think I could still run all this on a 450w PSU?

I wouldn't do it. You probably could but you should go with a cx600 instead for headroom. It's even a cheaper psu.

I'd also get an i5 3470 instead to save some money.

Don't get aftermarket thermal paste. You're more likely to do worse than the preapplied paste.

Unless you're only getting it for looks, stick with the Intel stock cooler. You don't need an aftermarket cooler since you're not overclocking. The Intel cooler is adequate.

Are you sure about the bluray writer? It's awfully expensive.

Get the unlocked cpu for like $20 more and get a bigger PSU like 650w to be safe, you can run it on less but 650w allows for more room for overclocking, etc.

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

I need a sfx form factor psu... Sorry I didn't mention this in the description... :) I would get a bigger modular one... But, it is not able to fit in the case... :(:) Problem with stock cooler... Freakishly loud... :P Bluray writer? I don't need the writing part of it... I just wanted a bluray drive so that I could play bluray format as well as dvd format... And it's the highest rated one I could find... And it's silverstone... :P For the thermal paste... My thinking on that was that the aftermarket thermal paste would be better at heat transfer than the pre-applied paste... :D Thank you for your help!

That PSU is fine. Also I wouldn't bother getting those adaptor cables. Chances are something will be included with the PSU.

Which adapter cables? The SATA to MOLEX adapters? I was thinking that if I got rid of the MOLEX power cable on the PSU completely and used the SATA power instead that I could reduce the power wiring in the system... Making it easier to cable manage... :D According to neweggs photos, it does not include any adapter cables of that sort... :) Thank you so much for your help! :)

I'm guessing you're sold on the case. It if meant that a 770 would be on an iffy psu, I'd get a different one. It's really up to you though.

The stock cooler will only be loud if you don't lower the speed in the bios and if you have terrible case cooling. I had one in my uncle's build in a NZXT Tempest 210 and I could barely hear it during Prime95.

A cooler is always optional and since you're not overclocking, you can afford to get the system first and see if the stock cooler is too loud before buying and aftermarket one.

Get the cheapest bluray drive then. Any will do. The 'quality' will not diminish. Bluray isn't that hard to read. This will be more than adequate: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/lg-optical-drive-uh12ns29

My mistake - that one doesn't include any adaptors.

That's alright! Thanks! :)

Another reason I am going with a aftermarket cooler like that is because of the space in the case (rhyme... :P) is so small that I am worried that a cable might find its way to the fan... Just cause I am persnickety... :D I forgot to mention this, too... Sorry... :P The bluray drive needs to be slim form factor slot loading... :-/ I would use something like that... But, I don't want to get an external enclosure for the 5.25" drive... :) Thank you so much for your help! :D
