I posted this earlier but got almost no help. So when i plug in my headset i get a weird staticy feedback and i dont know how to fix it. For some reason it is just plugging in my usb i can have my audio and mic jacks unplugged and it still does it. Ive tried updating drivers, switching ports, even passing it through my keyboard and it is still doing it

Time to buy a new sound card?

Try these wild guesses:

- Update bios.

- Uninstall the driver from device manager and then reinstall the driver.

- When you unplug all usb devices (key, mouse,...), does the static still remain? (some asus boards has some weird problems with static from usb devices).

- How about front panel audio?

There's probably interference.

How can i get rid of it

Also, I should mention some boards just have coil whine in certain situations. Do you have another computer we can test your headset with?

And you said it happens on the front too? Using front USBs?

I don't think there's anything you can do when it comes to coil whine on the board, except to replace the board.

I dont think ill do that its just too much hassle. I save up some money and go out and buy a cheap headset and see if that works if not. Then idk

It could be. Is it detachable?

If it doesn't have static on your other computer, most likely no.

You may have to switch over to an actual audio jack.

What do you mean?

You're using USB, correct? You may have to use audio jacks on the back of your board or buying a sound card(switching over to another headset) if the static keeps up when only using USB.

Uninstall driver, update bios,... don't help, so software issue is eliminated.

If your headset works well with other computers, then we can isolate that the problem is your computer, most likely your motherboard.

The problem still persists when using front panel audio. Static interference from usb devices plugged in the back panel is eliminated. Can you power up your headset without using the usb in the current computer? (using a laptop's usb port maybe) Just to make sure that it's not an interference problem with usb ports.

If that is confirmed then we can conclude that your audio chip is the culprit. Maybe it is bugged, maybe your motherboard doesn't like your psu (it can happen too). You can do the following:

- Rma your board.

- Swap a borrowed psu to see if that fixes the problem.

- Buy an audio card.

Question. If i buy a soundcard how would it stop my headset from making this noise. Because i would still have to plug it in to usb and thats where the sound is coming from
