Only one question. Why a reference 970?

Edit: If because mATX then don't respond, otherwise I would like to know

I am actually getting a 970 for Christmas and it is this card.

There are no reference 970's with that magnesium shroud, the 970 has the plastic one instead (Except for the OCUK exclusive that also eliminates coil whine)

Oh and what does OCUK mean?

OCUK is an english hardware website/store. They made a GTX 970 with a GTX 980 board and 980 ref magnesium cooler with cherry picked components for guaranteed 0 coil whine and improved stability/OC'ing

It's not, like I said it's an OCUK exclusive that GTX 970 with a 980 board etc etc.

Really though even if it has the plastic shroud it will still do pretty well. Not sure why you're not going non-reference with an MSI TF V or Gigabyte WF3

Only their site sells it, hence OCUK-exclusive. If you're not buying it from OCUK (Located in the UK ofcourse) then it's not the OCUK version

How do you know its plastic then?

Because I've have never seen an IRL picture of someone holding a GTX 970. Plus just go past all the brands like asus and gigabyte and look at their reference cooler shroud. They are all plastic

I did and I question its legitimacy since Nvidia doesn't actually sell the actual cards themselves. They sell the blueprints to the major brands and let them sell it

They sold 770's the same way, but I don't see how it would be fake, and I don't think its plastic, but I could be wrong.

Can replace RAM with http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f32400c11d8gsr. A lot faster and it's cheaper and it's G.SKILL. G.SKILL is good.

The rest looks super solid to me. Maybe some better fans for the H100i like NF-F12's but that's it

The box didn't say anything but hopefully it is metallic like the 770 from Best Buy. Is there a big problem with it not being metallic?

Metallic looks better but it shouldn't perform any worse or better
