I don't ever bother with PDF files except for sometimes reading them. For that I just use Chrome. Saves on me installing any third party software to do the same thing. Ubuntu does have it's own built in PDF viewer tho most PDF's I view are online. As for editing, creating, really there's only one Adobe. Especially being for a work place it will always support whatever PDF files come your way.

What is your preferred PDF program? Doesn't have to be free, but I just got a new job and it requires a large use of PDF.

Depends on what you need to do with the PDFs. If nothing more than viewing, Acrobat Reader is fine.

If you need to edit them you should have Acrobat Pro, but if that's not an option you might need something like Foxit Reader or Nitro PDF which I think offer some of that functionality.
