Help me decide on a new keyboard?

TheYonderGod

Originally I was going to ask what keyboard I should get, but I did some more searching and found that the only keyboard I can find with everything I want is the CM Storm QuickFire TK. I just want to confirm that there are no other better options and what switches I should get.

Budget: ~$100 or less

Switches: The only ones I've tried are blacks on my brother-in-law's Steelseries 7G. I like it better than my membrane keyboard, but I don't like how hard they are to press. I would probably get used to it though so I'm still considering it.

I will be using it mostly for gaming; FPSs.

From what I've read, reds seem like a good choice for me?

Features:

Backlighting is almost a must. Even though I can type without looking most of the time, I still get thrown off if I cant glance down every once in a while.

I really really want a shorter keyboard because I don't have a lot of space, I do want a number pad still though so I would like one of the ones that combines the arrow keys/home/end keys with the num pad, I guess I could get a separate keypad for when I need it though.

My media keys are very useful for controlling foobar, I could live without them though.

Should I just pull the trigger push the switches on the CM Storm QuickFire TK w/ Reds, or should I consider anything else?

I think the TK is a good choice for you. Seeing as you didn't like blacks due to the resistance, red should do you fine. CM Storm make awesome keyboards and it should do you well. The only other options I cant think of off the top of my head are ducky keyboards that you could get tenkeyless with red switches and a blacklight, but they're quite expensive.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

Ducky Shine 2 or 3 when it comes out

Thanks but those are a lot more than $100 and not tenkeyless or arrowkeyless as far as I can tell, let me know if I'm wrong though.

you can price match from amazon to NCIX! :0 As long as both sites are from the same country.

Nope, I tried but it says "The dealer entered (amazon.com) has been disqualified from Price Matches at this time due to inaccuracies on their site, or other reasons."

oO I did find it other places for even less that will let me price match though https://www.google.com/shopping/product/14787182568867635795?q=CM Storm QuickFire TK

I'd say TK as well. The layout of the numpad/arrow keys is odd to start with but isn't a problem after a while. I have one and it's very solidly built and would definitely recommend.

Great choice, I have the QF TK Blue myself, with Blue switch.......but umm, doesn't the mismatch LED color between your KB and mouse sorta 'grinds your gear'? I don't know about you, but it kills me when my mouse does not match the backlight of my KB, and the LED in my case......they must match! For me anywayz.....

I have no LED's in my case or mouse. Problem solved.

Good keyboard.  B)

Red backlighting is so bad compared to blue or white, I wonder why they make it at all.

Yeah it's kinda annoying but my old keyboard had red backlights too so I'm used to it.

Now, here is the side effect with buying a mechanical keyboard, you will just keep wanting to buy more and more for no reason at all as you fall in love with them.

Current Keyboards: Ergodox w/ clears, Poker 2 w/ clears, Ducky G2 Pro w/ Blues
