Tis the season for System Upgrades .. Fa La La La, La La La.

Hello LTT Members! As we all know the snow is falling, the christmas lights are hanging, and the temperatures are dropping (). ANYWHO..

I need your help for upgrading my system, and would LOVE some insight to push me into the right direction. Money is anywhere between $2000-$3000

So .. Lets start off on what I use this system for...

Programming, Web Design/Development, and heavy gaming (BF4 lol, BF3, Skyrim, BF: Hardline, Shadow of Mordor, etc.), VMWare Work.

And for my old current specs ..

Processor: AMD FX-8350 <-- Intel (More cores the better)

Processor Cooler: Corsair H80i <-- Sucks more ass then anything

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z <-- Workstation or Overclocking Heavy board (preferably ASUS)

Memory: G.Skill 4x4GB 2133Mhz CL9 <-- Would really like 32GB .. I disk swap way tooo much ..
Graphics: 2x Gigabyte HD7870 2GB Cards <-- Bottlenecking games

HDD: 4x 500GB WD Blacks <-- Storage is good

SSD: 1x Samsung Evo 120GB <-- Would like RAID0

Power Supply: Corsair AX1200i <-- Perfect for this build

Case: Silverstone FT04B-W <-- Fucking hate this case, horrible thermals

Wish list ..

8 Cores (Hyperthreaded or not)
32GB of RAM would help. (Or more)

I like 2-3x GPU's

And RAID0 is a MUST in VMWare Workstation.

And a new case would be wonderful.

If you can help, please let me know. (And I can get 2x XFX 7990's for $1,000, should I get them)

Thanks a million guys!

Happy Holidays!

You really don't need to upgrade most of the things you have unless you just like throwing out money. Tbh I think this was a more "look what I have" thread then anythi , smh.

No in all honesty this is an upgrade. I want to pack my bags and head over to Intel. But fuck me, theres to many choices..

Go with a 4690K for quad core. Or a 4790K for quad core 8 threads. Unless you are not going to overclock. (Your H80i will be fine on the intel 4th gen side)

For the RAM, just get more of what you have.

Why do you need multiple GPUs? But Dual GTX 970s are perfect.

5800X3D - RTX 4070 - 2K @ 165Hz

I saw the HD 7990 refurbed for $350 the other day, which is pretty good but you'll see diminishing returns. At that point I'd just consider a GTX 970 SLI or 290X crossfire. Or just a 295X2.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I do a lot of CUDA based computing and video editing. So more CUDA the better.
