Looking to purchase a new Laptop this holiday season.

Hello everyone, 

 

 

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop this holiday season, I have about $1000-$1200 MAX. That's in Canadian dollars. I'm looking to buy from http://www.xoticpc.com/ - As they give a 3% cash-back discount, plus their prices are superb. I'm mostly posting this thread for help on mobile GPU's, as i've really only used Intel HD 4000, and the late great Nvidia 320M. I realize in my price range i'm basically looking at an 860M, maybe a 870M if i'm lucky. So i was just wondering, in terms of performance, how well does a 860/870M stack-up against desktop grade GPU's. I'm thinking of purchasing the Sager NP7338. However before i buy, i'd like more input,

I think OP is asking for comparion of 860m/870m against desktop counterparts.

I konw but Its an utterly pointless discussion, they have the same names as the desktop counterparts but are completely different

 

If the card can play games at 60fps high/ultra 1080p, does it matter how it compares to the desktop?

I guess he just wanted to know comparably how it stacks up against his system / cards he's familiar with.

I guess so, just from experience with my own gaming laptops its just a way to upset yourself at the price to performance of a laptop, 

 

if you are happy with the performance that particular laptop provides and the price it costs, then go for it
