So, I managed to pick up my PSU (sealed) for £20 from a friend as my budget was tight and it's the most reliable thing I could get. It's a OCZ ZS 750W (80+ bronze), I know it's overkill. Anyway, it's also non-modular which has become an issue. When I first build my PC I didn't bother with good cable management as I had to wait for a new CPU and GPU so everything was going to have to come out again. In the end, I stuck with the CPU so nothing actually came out. I finally got round to tidying up my cables but my side panel won't close! I have a x2 PCI power x1 molex power and x1 SATA power cables that I will never use. Is it safe to cut them off so that my side panel can close? I was planning on covering any exposed wires with electrical (insulated) tape, is this safe? If not is there any way to make it safe?

I highly suggest not cutting cables off, it is safe to do if you cover the exposed wires individually but instead of cutting them off just bundle them up and zip tie them in the bottom of case. It doesn't look that bad and won't get in the way of anything.

I might just bundle them into a drive cage so they can't be seen.

I wont tell Ya to do it, but I'w done it to a couple of PSU:s and there is no problems with it, just do it with care and read a FAQ about it first so u dont hurt yourself =D.

one way is to just cut em out side the PSU and HOTGLUE em onebyone (or use some heatshrink on every end) and then tape em toghter (shrink here to if possible)

an other way is to Open the PSU (warrenty gone either way) and cut inside the caseing and do the above to the cables.

or do as in this Old Guide http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=110554

and dont touch the other things in the PSU u can get a shock from capacitors and Coils if your not careful. there are still some Power left in em for quite awhile after shutdown =D
