Internet help.

Basically - 

 

My pc is in my bedroom upstairs and my router is downstairs (bt internet), Right now I am using a internet adapter but its still the same even if I used wireless internet. I have seen that most people have a router next to there pc but I have no plug in the wall to be able to do that. I thought about having to get a really long Ethernet cable but it would mean I have to drill wholes in the floor and ceiling which my parents dont really want to do, Got any advice?

Besides a direct cable the only other good alternative is a Powerline adapter of good quality.

 

Cable is ALWAYS the best solution.

thanks for the suggestions, but I dont even know if running a cable to my computer from the router downstairs will improve it. Bec sometimes my internet has been decent which happend as soon as I got the power line adapter but then 2 weeks in it started to slow down. So I was considering changing my internet provider to virgin instead of having bt but I dont even know if that would help.
