Where is the cheapest place to get Windows 8 legally? My University only offers the upgrade version.

I want to put it on a flashdrive like I have W7 right now. I would prefer to have a full version instead of upgrading my current OS install, because I will wipe my pc in the future and I am not sure how the licensing works for W8.

I'm not sure about where you can get it cheapest (Amazon?) but regarding licensing, the OEM version (which is usually cheaper) should be tied to the motherboard it is first installed to (and can be reinstalled over and over so long as the motherboard remains the same) whereas as far as I'm aware the retail versions (which are more expensive) can be transferred from one computer to the next.

If you're in a College/University, it's free through Dreamspark. You'll need an email associated with the University to sign up.

OEM is the next best option if you only want one installation.
