Did I make a mistake getting the i5 4570?

I bought it originally because I was $20 short of the 4670k when it came out (it was $249.99), and I couldn't get myself to wait another two weeks for more money. I figured I could use the coupon TigerDirect sent me and get the 4570 for $200 and be happy with it. What I wanted to do is buy myself some nice parts to last me at least 4 years, but I'm worried the 4570 may not allow me to do that well because I have no over clocking potential with it. Should I send it back and get a 4670k or will the 4570 suffice? I mainly want the CPU to keep up with video cards and games in the future without a significant bottleneck.

Thanks!

I have a laptop that sucks because I'm broke.

It will def suffice for anything you need to do. But if you want to overclock then get the 4670k. I think you will be fine

If you can send it back yeah do it. Everyone should buy unlocked chips just for the option in the future.

Be prepared to not use your rig for a while....

common rule of thumb.

if you want to overclock

-buy an unlocked processor

if you don't think you want to overclock

-buy an unlocked processor

if you think overclocking is too hard

-buy an unlocked processor

if your too scared to overclock

-buy an unlocked processor

if you've overclocked before and know your situation does not require overclocking

-buy a cheaper locked processor

reason being that you can change your mind and want to overclock, which is good, overclocking allows your cpu to maintain it's usefulness for a longer period of time.

better to have the option than not.

only when you've dealt with overclocking many times, and you know for a fact that you won't overclock the system do you spare the expense and buy a locked processor, like if you're buying a parent a pc,or a non-techie friend.

if for example you're buying this for a friend who lives on a tech forum which whose answer to

"why is the Earth going to shit"

would be

"God just got a new position as CEO of his new company, has to take care of his old job,he has to maintain said forum, and he now has a baby"

then you probably want an unlocked processor.
