That unallocated space is probably why. You probably just see one 2TB partition. Create another one if you can.

I just tried to extend the partition and its saying only the first 2TB are usable on large MBR disks.

I'm not quite sure what that means.

Well, don't try to extend it. Just try to create a new 2TB partition with the unallocated space.

only gives me a property and help option when I right click on the unallocated partition. should I just ignore it for now and once I have my SSD as the C drive it wont do this anymore?

i think you need it reformat & set partition in GPT instead of MBR, MR paritition limit is 2 tb 's i think..

Details separate people.

Wow, that unallocated space that's not available for a partition? Strange. If you don't have much data or care much, reinstall windows and repartition yor hard drive.

well in about a week ill be getting my SSD and installing win 8 on it so i could just during then just format this current drive. Also currently this build is only a few hours old so nothing would really be lost and its all easy to download again.

your 4TB is configured with MBR which has a limit of 2TB per partition. To utilize all 4TB as 1 drive letter, you must reconfigure the drive to GPT.

doing the conversion from MBR to GPT will delete all existing data on the drive, and it is recommended to make a backup before attempting the conversion.

I would use gparted to delete all existing partitions on the drive. When you install win 8 on your ssd leave the 4TB off for now. once install on the ssd is complete, attach the 4tb drive and go to disk management.

iSCSIHV35.jpg

This screen will pop up, you want the GPT because the drive is over 4TB.
