PSU noise

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

Its a design flaw that the temperature control unit has. Every time you hear that noise it is because it sent a small pulse of electricity to the fan for just a second.

It sounds like a leaky faucet or small knock every 10-20 seconds, my AX860i does it too.

My solution was to put the fan at a constant 800rpm instead of the silent mode. This means it does make a bit of fan noise, but it is far less noticeable or annoying as the knocking sound.

Now afaik the GS600 does not have corsair link, so you can control the fan profiles from the OS. So I don't think you can really do anything other than replace the fan (which may or may not stop the sound, i havent tried this yet) or replace the whole PSU :(

Hi guys, I'm using a Corsair GS600 PSU and I know that the fan doesn't spin up until under about 200w of load but it does make like a knocking sound when the fan isn't spinning and its only once in a while it won't do it where the fan isn't spinning, just wondering what it was as it's been happening for quite some time now.

Sounds like the a fan is just tickling past a wire but it's not that, just that sort of sound!

Thanks.

Ahh, sounds like I'm stuck with it then :( It was only bought as my old PSU died 6 months after my rig was built and I needed something quick, PC world it was, haha. Thanks man!
